ITANAGAR, Aug 6: The residents of Chambang area are facing hardships due to acute shortage of essential items due to road blockage triggered by heavy rainfall.
The Suspension Rope Bridge between Langding and Chambang is also in pathetic condition which needs immediate repairing, Rumbang ASM Puji Sangte informed in a release.
Since the students and Government staff are the worst sufferer of the prevailing situation, the authority may consider air dropping of ration items till the road communication is improved, the ASM said.

Women Volleyball tourney begins
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: The 5th Taba Tat Memorial Women Volleyball Tournament began at Bullo village, Yazali of Lower Subansiri district yesterday.
Altogether 18 teams are vying with each other for the top honour this year.
The winner and runners up teams would be given cash prize of Rs.25,00 and Rs. 15,000 respectively along with trophies while the third prize carries an award of Rs.5,000.
The final match to be held on August 10 would be attended by PWD Minister Nabam Tuki and Parliamentary Secretary and Arunachal Olympic Association president Padi Richo as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The tournament is a yearly event organized by Taba Tat Foundation.
The Foundation would also felicitate the AISSE and AISSCE toppers of Nyishi students of Govt. Schools under Yachuli constituency and honor the GBs of Yazali pacnchayat for their valuable services towards Nyishi people of the area.

VKAJ organizes medical camps at Laju
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: Swasthya Seva Manch the health service forum of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ) recently conducted few medical camps at Thinsa, Barap, Laju village and Pongkong of Laju circle in Tirap district. Over 325 patients suffering from various ailments were treated and medicines were distributed.
Twelve pregnant women were also examined and Iron Folic Acid capsules were provided to them. They were advised for regular ANC and six of the patients were advised for Sputum test (AFB).

The poor people of Dambuk have to cross these rivers for minor official works at Roing which could have been done by Dambuk SDO, Pertin said. Moreover, it is always not possible for the people to afford huge expenditure amounting to more than Rs 1000 to reach Roing for such administrative works, he added. Pointing out that that CO of the new administrative circle headquarters Koronu, 25 km away from the district HQ has been delegated the power to issue ST and other important certificate, the former minister appealed to the state Govt to delegate more power to Dambuk SDO to lessen the burden of the people of Dambuk area.

ITANAGAR, Aug 6: Responding to public outcry against dilapidated capital and sector roads, PWD and UD Minister Nabam Tuki today said that very high rainfall this year has caused massive damages to roads.
Pointing out that none can fight against the nature, Tuki said that he has been in constant touch with the chief engineers to monitor the situation. “I have issued directive to all of them to take up restoration work on war footing,” he said.

He said the fund requirements are being submitted to the planning and finance departments. He urged the finance minister to ensure early release of funds so that the restoration works are not affected.
However, carpeting can be taken up only after rain stops, Tuki said and sought the cooperation of the public.
UD CE Taba Tedir informed that nine JCBs were engaged and road blocks were removed for facilitating communication in the state capital.
Capital PWD division EE Ratu Techi said that they worked since early Friday morning to restore communication on NH52A by 8 pm. “We are working to our fullest capacity,” he added.

The DDSE had taken action in this regard and a huge mount of Rs fifteen lakhs were recovered from various schools in form of bogus enrolment of the students. It was also seen that many teachers were also involved in preparing bogus enrolment of the students. However, the DDSE took immediate action and recovered Rs fifteen lakhs and the amount was deposited to the Govt, the release said.
The DC also took stock of the MDS and RTE implementation in the district. He assured that RTE Act will be implemented in the district in true spirit with the help of teachers, parents and students. The DC further warned all the officials of the district who are not staying at their place of posting. Immediate action will be taken against those officials who are staying at district headquarter instead of staying at posting places, he said. Extensive tour to other blocks will be conducted soon, the release added.
ANSU demands proper policy to minimize road blockage & power failure
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) implored the State government to take necessary steps to solve the constant road blockage and power failure in the State’s Capital Itanagar and its vicinity.
In a mailed press release, ANSU general secretary Arjun Panye said, “The constant
road blockage and power failure have put the life of people of Capital Complex in
utter confusion and disorder. The prolonged rains in the last few weeks have unleashed
a trail of destruction in every nook and corner of the State’s capital and its vicinity.

Natural calamities are beyond our control but we all know which month we receive maximum rainfall in our State. If we take preventive measures, loss of properties and human life can be assuaged at the maximum, he said.
Stringent action should be taken against those who illegally and randomly indulge in earth cutting compromising the life and property of the public, Panye said and described the district administration a tiger in paper only.
It is high time that Government come out with a proper policy to do away with the constant road blockage and power failure.
The construction of road should be handed over to BRTF for quality. Further, an alternate road should also be constructed from Naharlagin to Itanagar, he suggested.
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: Expressing concern over the various problems being faced by the people of the capital complex, particularly after nature’s fury which caused severe damages to road infrastructure in the capital region, All Papum Pare District Students Union (APPDSU) has appealed to the PWD, PHE and Electrical departments to take immediate steps for renovation of roads, proper supply of drinking water and electricity respectively. Pointing out the administrative order banning earth cutting in the Capital, the Union said that the maximum road damages in the Capital region are caused by earth cutting. The common people are facing lot of problems due to negligence of a few persons, the union said adding that the PWD alone should not be blamed for the present condition of the road.
It further said the administration should take responsibility of implementing the ban order on earth cutting for the benefit of common people.

ITANAGAR, Aug 6: All Upper Papu Youth Welfare Association (AUPYWA) East Kameng, has lauded the bold step taken by the Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin against bandh culture. The Association also expressed happiness over the announcement for raising three new battalions which will generate employment opportunities for large number of youth and also lauded step to renovate capital road soon.
Young Mission Adventure Club (YMAC), Itangar also lauded the announcement of the CM against bandh culture. The Club in a release today said that Govt decision to abide by the Supreme Court order will bring succor to the people of the Capital who have been facing frequent bandh. It also appealed to the organizations not to resort to any bandh call in underdeveloped state like Arunachal Pradesh as it affects the state economy and developmental works. Traffic movement along the road got disrupted due to heavy rains in the last two days. However, it was cleared for traffic movement after the CM took prompt initiative.
Implementation of SPA projects and PM package reviewed in West Siang district
AALO, Aug 6: The District Level Monitoring Committee meet reviewed the progress of 105 projects amounting to Rs. 14641.26 lakhs under SPA and 153 projects/schemes under PM Package involving Rs. 399.79 lakhs sanctioned during the last five years under the chairmanship of West Siang deputy commissioner Amjad Tak today. The district specific projects and schemes are exclusive of other projects and schemes placed to line departments from SPA and PM packages.
Presiding over the meet, the DC called for painting a better picture of the district as administration is also involved in the implementation process. He stressed on timely submission of utilization certificates to get better linkage in free flow of fund and budgetary support from the Central Government in time. All copies of work orders and intimation should be given to all administrative officers and Panchayat leaders at ZPM level for knowledge and effective monitoring of all schemes, the DC said. He was specific about constituting a circle level monitoring committee to facilitate better coordination to implement all schemes successfully.
District Planning Officer Milo Phussang stressed on submission of return reports on quarterly basis even if the DLMC meet is not held in time due to time constraints. He disclosed that Government has constituted a Third Party monitoring team to assess all projects and schemes in the boarder areas and urged all executing agencies to furnish detailed information on all projects soon.

The recent visit of Home Minister Takar Marde to insurgency-
During his extensive tour from July 26 to 30, the Home Minister visited the trouble-
He also visited Deomali, the place where former young MP Wangcha Rajkumar was assassinated in 2007. Incidentally, the public meeting was held in the very club where late Rajkumar was gunned down in cold blood. The Home Minister’s visit to Ranglua and Kamku –Russa wherein a serious boundary dispute erupted between the Assamese and the Wanchos last year in which an innocent Wancho was killed by Assam police in an unprovoked firing, was welcomed and appreciated by the villagers who lived in constant fear as Assam side had always adopted an aggressive posture. His visit, especially to the interior and border areas, undoubtedly provided a ‘healing touch’ that Tirap badly needed.
Many Home Ministers had come and gone before Takar Marde without leaving any footprints on the sands of time neither in words or deeds. But the present Home Minister had not only rekindled the hopes and aspirations of the people but has also endeared the present State Government to the people. Such euphoria created by Marde’s visit was missing during the visit of former Home Ministers.
Of course, Union Home Minter P Chidambaram’s visit to Khonsa in 2010 yielded some
positive dividends. Today, people of all ages in Tirap cannot stop eulogizing Home
Mister Marde for the official announcement he made in all the public meetings he
addressed regarding the generous Home Ministry’s packages that include a mass Police
recruitment in various categories of posts and 80 crore central grant for establishment
of new Police stations, up-
These are a real windfall for these backward districts. These two districts need
a fillip like this to enable them catch up with the other more developed districts
of the state. In fact, this has come as a God-
No doubt, other districts of the state are also facing a plethora of problems but their problems can, in no way, be equated with the peculiar and serious problems these two districts have unfortunately been enduring for long, helplessly.
It is needless to repeat here that insurgency is a scourge for any society. Wherever,
there is insurgency in any form, developmental activities come to a screeching halt
because the ultras tend to force the ideologies and orders into unwilling ears, more
often than not using violent means. In such an ambience young people are susceptible
to the tactics and guerrilla war-
Our Home Minister and the Government have no magic wand to do away with the problems Tirap has been living with for years. Peace is sine qua non for development. Our Government should spare no effort to create a conducive atmosphere for uninterrupted deployment in the district.
Today the poor villagers are sandwiched between the ultras and security forces. They
are a confused lot and are reticent. The safest line they parrot whenever they are
asked about the movement of the ultras is, “I have not seen, not heard and don’t
know anything.” Anybody in their place will do the same. There is no protection for
them. They are sitting ducks for the ultras. We must have sympathy for them. They
are ignorant and innocent and so their peccadilloes if any should be overlooked by
the law-
Now, some one may ask why they don’t inform the security forces?. The answer lies
in the question itself. Scores of precious lives have been lost for daring to defy
the orders of the ultras. Now, was there anybody who came forward to save them? It
is easier said than done. Insurgency anywhere is a complex issue. So it has to be
dealt with utmost care, considering the safety and security of the people who have
nothing to do with the ideologies of the ultras. As I said a long time ago in one
of my articles that insurgency in Tirap is because of its proximity with Janta-
In the light of the saga of never ending insurgency-
Today, people everywhere in Tirap are talking about the Home Minister’s meaningful visit not only in terms of the Home Ministry’s packages he had announced but for the seriousness with which the State Government has started addressing the insurgency problem. Home Minister Takar Marde is today no less than a messiah for the ordinary Tirap’s people. Indeed, he came, he saw and he conquered the hearts of the people.

Itanagar gets new officers club
ITANAGAR Aug 6: Itanagar gets a new Officers Club after state Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin formally inaugurated the newly constructed officers club here at State Circuit house premises yesterday evening.
“For a healthy governance, healthy mind is required and for a healthy mind a healthy body is essential” asserted Gamlin while congratulating the members of officers club for the new badminton club building. He felt the need for such recreation for the officers coming from outside the state who do not have much to do to entertain themselves.
While assuring to provide all possible assistance, Gamlin asked the Club President Tape Bagra and Secretary Robin Hibu to submit a detail project report on jogging and walking track as proposed by the members. He further urged the club to accommodate politicians as well in the club so that they also find a suitable place for recreation besides their hectic schedules.
Earlier, Tape Bagra in his welcome address extended sincere gratitude to the state government for providing fund for the building and said that it was a long felt need for the All India Service Officers coming from different parts of the country and state officers at Itanagar. Bagra further lauded the active participation and encouragement of MLA Laeta Umbrey and Alo Libang and also had special mention of the hard work and labour of Er. Tage Taki and Er J S Srivastav for completing the building before time.

ABSU’s demand for revocation of DC’s transfer order supported
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) has strongly supported

Taking strong exception to the transfer order of the DC in the midst of the eviction drive, AESDSU said that present eviction drive in Pasighat township is legitimate and development friendly step on the part of the administration.
The transfer of present Deputy Commissioner has come up as a great shock for the people of Pasighat which left us with no option but to protest, AESDSU said.
Pasighat, which is one of the oldest towns of the state, is under serious threat from illegal land occupants. The massive land grabbing by some individuals has demoralized the development process of the township, the students union said and described the act of the state Government very unfortunate and a politically hatched game to derail the development process of Pasighat township.
The Union felt that the revocation of transfer of the present incumbent Onit Panyang would facilitate more peace and development in Pasighat township.
The Union also urged Education Minister Bosiram Siram to come clear in this matter.
